Driveways - Materials

The most common driveway materials are asphalt, concrete, gravel, and pavers. Each material has its unique advantages and disadvantages but, if you are purchasing an existing home, what you see is what you get. Let’s talk about the materials:

Asphalt is a popular choice due to its affordability, durability, and ease of repair. However, it requires regular maintenance and is susceptible to softening on hot days and cracking due to tree roots.

Concrete, on the other hand, is a more expensive option but offers a long-lasting and low-maintenance surface. It is less susceptible to damage from tree roots but can be prone to cracking in colder climates.

Gravel is an affordable and easy-to-install option that provides good drainage. However, it requires regular maintenance and can be difficult to clear snow from. Most commonly used in rural areas in this region.

Pavers are a more expensive option but offer an aesthetically pleasing and durable surface. They are easy to repair but require a solid base for installation and can be prone to weed growth.
